GOVERNOR ENO WARNS OF FLOOD RISK, CALLS FOR COMMUNITY CLEANUP AHEAD OF HEAVY RAINS

At the monthly Government House Prayer Service, Governor Umo Eno sounded a warning over imminent flooding in Akwa Ibom, based on Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) forecasts predicting up to 290 rainy days in 2025.
Urging residents to clean gutters and drainages in their communities, Eno warned against indiscriminate waste disposal and blockage of waterways, emphasizing that preventing flood disasters requires collective effort.
He instructed the Ibom Community Watch to step up surveillance and compliance, adding that relief materials would be dispatched to already affected communities. The Governor also extended an invitation to citizens for the second anniversary thanksgiving scheduled for May 25, saying, “Let us thank God for His wonders in these past two years.”
Rev. Peter Omiunu, preaching at the service, encouraged believers to trust in the God of great wonders and to remain grounded in divine promises even amid adversity.

in a rather touching development, Following a devastating midnight inferno that razed a family compound in Atabong, Eket LGA, Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has approved the immediate construction of a 15-room residential facility for the affected families, including TVC News Correspondent Miriam Daniels.
The fire rendered eight households homeless, including elderly widow Mrs. Comfort Daniel, whose rental property was the family’s sole income. Governor Eno’s team conducted an on-the-spot assessment and committed to rebuilding the structure to modern standards.
Mrs. Daniel, her family, and other affected residents expressed deep gratitude, calling the Governor’s action a lifeline. Miriam Daniels, visibly emotional, described the intervention as “more than political—it’s deeply human.”
Officials accompanying the inspection—including Engr. Charles Okorie and Prince NsikanAbasi Umoekpo—confirmed that the Governor had directed the use of quality materials and prompt execution, assuring that the government remains sensitive to the plight of its people.
