The Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA), Mr. Silas Dung, has presented an ₦11.4 billion appropriation bill for the 2025 fiscal year to the council’s legislative arm.
Tagged the “Budget of Restoration,” Dung emphasized that the budget is focused on rebuilding the LGA for improved service delivery. It comprises recurrent and capital expenditures, striking a balance between addressing urgent needs and long-term development.
According to him, the budget will prioritize infrastructure rehabilitation, social services, and economic empowerment to uplift residents. He stressed that it is a bold step toward overcoming existing challenges and laying a foundation for sustainable progress.
He further disclosed that the budget would be financed through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Statutory Revenue Allocation, FAAC, VAT, and Ecological Funds. Efforts are also underway to enhance revenue collection and financial sustainability in the LGA.
In response, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Mr. Chomo Shen, assured that the budget would receive swift consideration and passage. He pledged the legislature’s full support in ensuring the council’s growth and development.
In another development, The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has cautioned Northern politicians nursing presidential ambitions for 2027, declaring that the power-sharing agreement between the North and South must be upheld.
Ganduje made this known on Tuesday February 10th, while receiving members of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre (PBAT Media Centre) and the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum (TNYF) at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
He reminded party members that former President Muhammadu Buhari, a Northerner, served two terms before power shifted to the South. By this logic, Tinubu is entitled to complete an eight-year tenure before power rotates back to the North.
Speaking on the economy, he admitted that “many things went wrong over time” but expressed confidence that Tinubu’s economic reforms would gradually restore stability and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Hon. Dada Olusegun of the PBAT Media Centre reaffirmed his group’s commitment to countering misinformation and actively promoting Tinubu’s achievements. Similarly, the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum commended the administration’s policies, emphasizing their impact in the North.
