Tinubu Appoints New Members to National Assembly Service Commission

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 13 individuals to the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), with Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as chairman.

The NASC oversees the administrative affairs of the National Assembly, including staffing, legislative operations, and financial management. The appointments, which come with a renewable five-year term, aim to improve efficiency within the legislature.

A statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the appointments, which include representatives from each geopolitical zone. Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and Hon. Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka were appointed from the North West, while Aminu Ibrahim Malle and Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud will represent the North East. The North Central zone has Mark Hanmation Tersoo and Salihu Umar Agboola Balogun, and the South West is represented by Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Hon. Afeez Ipeza-Balogun. Hon. Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu and Festus Ifesinachi Odii will serve from the South East, while Patrick A. Giwa and Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong represent the South South.

Dr. Enyiekere, an environmental specialist and former deputy chief of staff to the Senate President, will lead the commission in improving legislative processes and ensuring smooth administrative operations. The appointments are expected to enhance governance within the National Assembly and reinforce Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.
