Popular Businessman in Parental Dispute Over Child’s Paternity

A legal battle has erupted between businessman Tunde Ayeni and his former mistress, Adaobi Jennifer Alagwu, over the paternity of a child she claims he fathered.

Alagwu insists that Ayeni is the biological father of her daughter, Omarosa Abimbola Ayeni, and that he had performed traditional marriage rites, including payment of a dowry. She has provided video evidence and DNA test results from a UK-based medical facility confirming his paternity.

However, Ayeni strongly denies fathering the child, claiming he only made financial commitments under the impression that the baby was his but later discovered discrepancies. He has petitioned a Federal Capital Territory Customary Court in Abuja, asking for a declaration that Alagwu was never his wife and that the child is not his.

In a dramatic twist, Ayeni has refused to take another DNA test unless other men Alagwu was allegedly involved with also participate. He further claims that the child does not resemble him or any member of his family.

The court has scheduled March 4 for Alagwu’s defense and the hearing of her counterclaim, in which she argues that Ayeni named the baby and that their marriage under Igbo customs was legitimate.

The case continues to generate public interest as both parties present conflicting evidence in what has become a high-profile paternity battle.
