The Federal Government has inaugurated a 990kW interconnected mini-grid in Lambata, Niger State, providing electricity to 3,900 households and businesses.
Funded by the EU and German government with €9.7 million, the project is part of the Interconnected Mini-grid Accelerated Scheme (IMAS) and will expand to 1.5MW.
Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu emphasized its role in boosting economic growth, job creation, and social services. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) highlighted its renewable energy benefits, while Governor Mohammed Bago pledged to expand similar projects statewide.
EU and German officials reaffirmed their support for Nigeria’s clean energy transition, noting over €200 million invested in mini-grids nationwide.
