Governor Umo Eno has directed the renovation of Urban Secondary School, Ibiaku, in Ikono LGA as a tribute to the late Madam Catherine Emmanuel Benstone, mother of his aide, Mr. Elijah George.
The governor announced this decision at the funeral of Madam Benstone in Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, Ikono.
Governor Eno, who expressed his condolences, emphasized that the renovation is in recognition of George’s dedication and loyalty.
Additionally, he pledged to fund the roofing
and fencing of the local Catholic Church, fulfilling a wish of the deceased.
“I lost my mother too, and I know how painful it is,” the governor said. “But let our presence give you comfort and strength.”
He directed the SSA on Special Duties, Barrister Morgan Ekanem, to assess the school’s condition for immediate renovation.
The Chief Celebrant of the funeral, Reverend Moses Patrick Sade, praised Governor Eno’s leadership and commitment to development, describing the ARISE Agenda as a strategic plan aligning with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
