NIGCOMSAT PARTNERS MILITARY, POLICE TO USE SATELLITE TECH IN NATIONAL SECURITY

In a bold stride toward intelligent warfare, the Nigerian military and police have partnered with NigComSat to leverage satellite and AI technology for national security. The partnership, announced at the NigComSat Accelerator Programme’s second phase in Abuja, aims to address terrorism, kidnapping, and organized crime.
Chief of Defence Transformation, AVM Vincent Aguiyi, representing CDS Gen. Christopher Musa, said Nigeria’s armed forces are prepared to work with tech innovators to enhance national resilience.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Commissioner Ahmed Sule, emphasized how digital intelligence aids criminal mapping and surveillance.
NigComSat CEO Jane Egerton-Idehen highlighted the country’s opportunity to lead in space-tech. “Space is no longer a frontier — it’s a lifeline,” she stated, adding that satellite innovations would support agriculture, disaster response, and defense.
Egerton-Idehen urged stakeholders to invest in indigenous tech solutions, asserting that Nigeria’s youthful talent can power the next wave of innovation.
