The civil society group, Defenders of Integrity in Public Leadership (DIPL), has renewed its demand for the prosecution of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of fabricating sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a statement issued by spokesperson Ibrahim Abdullahi, the group said Akpoti-Uduaghan had waged a media war without offering concrete evidence to support her accusations. “No messages, calls, witnesses — only a consistent narrative of defamation,” the group claimed, adding that her continued absence from court amounted to “dodging accountability.”
DIPL warned that false allegations undermine legitimate victims and public trust in elected officials. “Being a woman does not exempt one from telling the truth,” the statement said.
The controversy stems from a widely circulated interview in which the senator accused Akpabio of inappropriate conduct, prompting a defamation suit by the Senate President. The matter remains pending in court, and calls for a transparent investigation into the claims continue to reverberate through political and activist circles.
