Bayelsa-based activist Ikuli delivered a powerful message during a press conference in Yenagoa, urging his home state to align politically with the ruling APC-led federal government to counter marginalization.
Ikuli praised Governor Douye Diri’s infrastructural and social reforms but cautioned that being the lone PDP-controlled state in the South-South could cost the Ijaw people influence and federal resources. “Our fathers taught us political alignment—today, no Ijaw holds key national positions,” he said, lamenting the absence of Bayelsa indigenes in top federal appointments.
He also warned of emerging sabotage within the party, including legal plots, that could derail PDP’s 2027 ambitions. The press briefing concluded with a minute of silence to mark the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari—highlighting both political urgency and national mourning.
