The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confiscated 588 kilograms of assorted illicit substances and razed six hectares of cannabis farms in operations carried out in Adamawa State. The operations are part of intensified efforts by the agency to disrupt major drug supply chains across the northeastern region.
According to NDLEA officials, the seized items include large quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, and codeine-based cough syrups. The operation involved multiple raids on suspected farms and safe-houses located in remote parts of the state. In several instances, agents encountered abandoned structures used for drying and storing cannabis before setting them alight.
Authorities said the farms destroyed were spread across at least three local government areas, and that construction tools used in cultivation—such as irrigation plastics and drying sheds—were also destroyed. Community informants reportedly played key roles in providing leads that led to the squad deployments.
NDLEA has appealed for continued community cooperation and warned that drug traffickers are adapting rapidly, using remote border areas and hidden supply routes. The agency also disclosed plans to follow up with intelligence gathering and surveillance to prevent re-cultivation and redeployment of seized farms.
