WIKE, FUBARA, AND AMAEWHULE MEET RIVERS ELDERS COUNCIL AMID POLITICAL CRISIS

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, have jointly met with the Rivers Elders Council in an effort to ease lingering political tensions in the state.

The meeting, held in Port Harcourt on Saturday October 5th, brought together prominent stakeholders who appealed for reconciliation and unity in the interest of the state. Sources said the discussions revolved around finding a middle ground that would stabilize the political situation, which has polarized institutions and strained governance.

Although no official communique was released after the talks, attendees described the engagement as “frank and necessary.” The Elders Council promised to sustain dialogue with all parties to prevent further escalation. The meeting is seen as a significant step in resolving the ongoing rift that has divided Rivers’ political leadership.
