Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to resolve its dispute with Dangote Refinery through dialogue rather than actions that could threaten the facility’s operations. He described the refinery as a national economic asset that should not be put at risk.
Speaking at the opening of the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit held in Abuja, Shettima reminded all stakeholders that Aliko Dangote’s investments in the refinery represent more than personal wealth—they contribute significantly to Nigeria’s industrial strength and must be protected. He urged caution, patriotism, and mutual respect in handling misunderstandings with union leadership.
The VP warned that any labor action which disrupts the refinery’s operations could harm national economic recovery. He underscored government’s broader resolve to uphold industrial harmony and investor confidence, stating that large projects like Dangote Refinery must not suffer because of disputes that should be settled amicably.
