Chief Olabode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a mere collection of “strange bedfellows.” Speaking at a press conference in Ikoyi on Friday, George condemned the recent invasion of the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja, calling the incident deeply disturbing, especially as a life member of the party’s Board of Trustees.
The PDP stalwart expressed concern over the use of thugs to disrupt the party’s activities, stressing that such behavior is not in line with the party’s values and ethos. “As the largest political party in Africa, we should not allow ourselves to be turned into an ‘Agbero’ party by any member with an inordinate ambition,” George remarked. He called on the PDP leadership to unite the opposing factions within the party and warned that anyone unwilling to prioritize the party’s unity and progress should step aside.
He continued, “We must not allow anyone to destroy our party. PDP is the only true national party in Nigeria. The APC, however, is just a temporary coalition of different groups with no solid foundation.” George’s comments reflect his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in both the PDP and APC.
