Abia Governor says He is unfazed By Kalu’s threats ahead of 2027

Abia State Governor Alex Otti on Saturday October 18th dismissed threats reportedly issued by a political rival, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, saying such tactics will not derail his administration or intimidate the people of Abia ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at an official event in Umuahia, Governor Otti said he remains focused on delivering on his campaign promises — infrastructure, healthcare, and job creation — and that political threats are part of the noise of democratic contestation. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and the rule of law, urging stakeholders to engage through lawful and democratic channels.

The governor appealed to party leaders and youth groups to avoid violence and inflammatory rhetoric, stressing that peaceful competition is essential for development. He also thanked civil servants and security agencies for maintaining order and pledged continued collaboration with the federal government and private investors to accelerate projects across the state.

Otti further called on residents to judge performance by outcomes rather than threats or campaign slogans, promising that his administration would remain accountable and transparent in the lead-up to the next general elections.
