ADC warns Gov Yilwatda ahead of 2027 polls: ‘Defections won’t guarantee Victory’

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang Yilwatda, that orchestrated defections by governors and lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections will not guarantee victory for the ruling party.

In a statement issued by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, the party accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of recycling politicians “whose only loyalty is to power and personal gain.”

The ADC stated:“The people of Nigeria are more politically aware today than ever. No amount of mass defections or political gimmicks will deceive them in 2027. Nigerians will judge parties by performance, not propaganda.”The party further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial as the political season intensifies, warning that political instability driven by opportunistic defections could threaten democratic progress.Political observers note that this statement comes amid growing uncertainty over several governors and federal lawmakers switching political camps in anticipation of new alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
