The 31 Local Government Chairmen of Akwa Ibom State have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Pastor Umo Eno, declaring him their sole candidate for the 2027 elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Chairmen, under the aegis of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), made the declaration during a breakfast meeting at the Government Lodge, Uyo, to mark their first anniversary in office.
ALGON Chairman and Uyo LGA Chairman, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Uwemedimo Udo, commended the Governor for his “people-centered, inclusive and development-driven” leadership, pledging grassroots mobilization in support of the ARISE Agenda. He also reaffirmed loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, promising alignment of local government structures with national and state development goals.
Even the only opposition LGA Chairman, Hon. Kufre Umoren of Onna, pledged his support for Gov. Eno, citing humility and accessibility as key traits of his leadership.
In response, Governor Eno thanked the Chairmen for their solidarity, urging them to continue working in synergy to ensure development reaches every community. He praised the visible progress across all councils and called for mutual respect between LG officials and traditional rulers.
APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, and DG of Umo Eno Campaign Organization, Ambassador Assam Assam (SAN), also lauded the Chairmen for their loyalty and collective impact at the grassroots, urging them to remain steadfast ahead of 2027.
