The Akwa Ibom State Government has debunked reports alleging that security details attached to former Governor Udom Emmanuel were withdrawn on the orders of Governor Umo Eno.
Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, told journalists that the rumour was baseless and misleading, insisting that the deployment or withdrawal of security operatives is the exclusive responsibility of the Inspector-General of Police and the State Commissioner of Police, not the Governor.
“I can tell you on good authority that the Governor never gave such an order. All former Governors are entitled to their full security details under the law,” Umanah stressed.
He appealed to the public to disregard the claims, describing them as propaganda meant to distract from the state’s focus on development. Umanah reaffirmed that Governor Umo Eno remains committed to peace, unity, and governance without discrimination.
