The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a sweeping victory in Kaduna State by-elections, winning both state assembly seats in Zaria Kewaye and Basawa, as well as the House of Representatives contest in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.
Official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show APC candidates securing wide margins over rivals from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Party leaders have hailed the victories as an overwhelming vote of confidence in both President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Uba Sani’s policies in Kaduna.
State APC chairman described the outcome as proof that “Kaduna people stand firmly behind progressive governance.” Meanwhile, opposition parties have conceded defeat but allege irregularities in voter mobilisation and logistics.
The results mirror a wider trend: APC won the majority of the 16 constituencies contested nationwide in last weekend’s by-elections, further tightening its grip on legislative chambers at both federal and state levels. Analysts say the sweep is a clear warning signal for the PDP, which has struggled to reposition itself after its 2023 presidential loss.
