BENUE LAWMAKER SAYS ALIA’S ‘BAD POLITICS’ WORSENING SECURITY CRISIS
Terseer Ugbor, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kwande/Ushongo in Benue State, has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of excluding federal lawmakers from crucial security engagements, a move he says is deepening the state’s insecurity. Speaking on Channels Television, Ugbor lamented that neither he nor other federal representatives had been invited to security meetings or consulted on matters affecting their constituencies.
“Since my election, I’ve never been called to the Government House for anything, even though my area is badly affected by violent attacks,” Ugbor said. He also revealed that despite independently seeking aid through NEMA, his efforts are sidelined when it comes to state-led interventions.
He cited specific examples, including a local security committee formed in his own LGA without his involvement. “That’s not just administrative oversight—it’s deliberate exclusion for political reasons,” he said. His remarks highlight increasing tension between the state government and federal legislators amid rising insecurity in Benue.
