CHIEF OF STAFF CRITICISES 2025 EDUCATION BUDGET
Chief of Staff to the President, Olufemi Gbajabiamila, has criticised the N3.52 trillion allocated to education in the 2025 budget as inadequate to meet Nigeria’s needs. Speaking at Osun State University’s inaugural lecture in Osogbo on Tuesday, he highlighted the structural limitations of Nigeria’s education system and warned that both federal and state governments lack the capacity to fund qualitative public university education under the current operational framework. Comparing Nigeria to global standards, Gbajabiamila emphasised that the current budgetary provisions fall far below what is needed to provide sustainable, quality education and called for a rethink of how tertiary education is structured and financed.
