Makurdi, Benue State — The Synod of the All Nations Evangelism Ministry has decried what it describes as a growing trend of political intolerance in Benue State. In a statement issued recently, the Christian group faulted the treatment of individuals being discriminated against or sidelined in political processes because of their religious affiliation or political views.
According to the group, certain political actors have increasingly used religious identity or perceived political allegiances to exclude or intimidate fellow citizens. They called for urgent intervention by government agencies and civil society to safeguard inclusivity and peace in the state.
The ministry demanded that political leaders uphold fairness, protect the rights of opponents, and ensure that political participation is not conditioned on religious or political conformity. It warned that unchecked intolerance could erode trust, stoke resentment, and threaten social cohesion in Benue.
