Dangote Industries Limited has denied ownership of the truck that was involved in the multiple-fatality road accident in Enugu State, insisting that the vehicle did not belong to its fleet and that its brand name had been wrongly associated with the tragedy.
The company, in a statement issued on Thursday, clarified that preliminary investigations revealed that the truck was operated by Visco Investment Global Limited and had no connection whatsoever with Dangote Group’s logistics operations. Dangote described the association of its brand with the crash as unfortunate and misleading, stressing that the company has in place stringent safety and operational standards for its fleet.
Dangote Industries explained that it is already engaging relevant authorities to determine why its logo appeared on the truck in question and promised to tighten brand protection measures to avoid a recurrence. The company added that it is committed to road safety and has invested significantly in driver training, vehicle tracking systems, and maintenance facilities to minimize accidents involving its fleet.
While expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the Enugu crash, the management of Dangote Industries called on the media and the public to exercise caution in attributing accidents to companies without verification. The company warned that spreading unverified claims not only tarnishes reputations but also misleads the public and distracts from the root causes of such accidents.
The tragic incident, which claimed multiple lives along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, has sparked outrage and calls for stricter regulation of heavy-duty trucks across the country.
