DAVIDO SPEAKS ON FRIENDSHIP WITH HUSHPUPPI
Afrobeats superstar Davido has spoken publicly about his relationship with convicted internet fraudster Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi. In a recent interview, Davido confirmed that they were friends, though he had no insight into Hushpuppi’s criminal activities before his arrest.
Hushpuppi, once a flashy social media celebrity, was sentenced to over 11 years in a U.S. federal prison after being convicted of large-scale international fraud. Photos and videos of Hushpuppi living lavishly, often alongside celebrities like Davido, were commonplace before his fall from grace.
Reflecting on that period, Davido stated, “My prayers go out to him. He’s my friend. I just saw him around — I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life.”
Davido went on to comment on the mindset of individuals who prioritize a few years of extravagant living over long-term consequences. “For some people, that’s enough — to enjoy life to the fullest for a few years and deal with the consequences later,” he said.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some defending his candid stance and others questioning the nature of celebrity friendships in the entertainment world.
