EDO COMMUNITY BEGS GOV OKPEBHOLO FOR ELECTRICITY TRANSFORMER

Benin City — Residents of Utesi community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area have appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo to provide a new electricity transformer to restore power to the area. The appeal was made during a meeting with local government officials, where community leaders lamented the hardship caused by persistent blackouts.

According to the residents, the community’s old transformer broke down months ago, plunging homes and businesses into darkness. The lack of electricity has affected small enterprises, education, and security, forcing some families to rely on generators at high cost.

The community promised to work with the government to safeguard the new transformer once provided. They stressed that a stable power supply would not only improve livelihoods but also discourage rural–urban migration.

Local authorities have acknowledged the request and assured that it will be forwarded to the appropriate agencies for urgent attention.
