The Edo State Government has issued a two-week ultimatum to all estate developers operating in the state to register with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development or face sanctions.
Commissioner for Physical Planning, Isoken Omo, announced the directive, saying many developers were operating illegally without government approval, leading to unplanned developments and land disputes.
She explained that registration would enable the government to regulate activities in the sector, protect buyers, and ensure adherence to building standards.
According to her, failure to comply would result in penalties, including suspension of operations and possible demolition of illegal structures.
The state government has also pledged to create a database of all registered developers to increase transparency and accountability in the housing sector
