EDO PDP CRISIS DEEPENS AS WIKES LEGACY GROUP ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVES

The crisis rocking the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension after the Wike Legacy Group elected new state executives in Benin City.

The group, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accused the mainstream PDP leadership in the state of running the party like a “private estate.”

Speaking after the congress, leaders of the group said they were determined to reposition the PDP in Edo and prepare it for the 2026 governorship election.

However, loyalists of the party’s national vice chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, dismissed the congress as illegal, saying it had no recognition under the PDP constitution.

The development further deepens divisions within the party, raising concerns about its readiness to mount a serious challenge in upcoming elections.
