Reality TV star and media personality Tacha Akide has called on Nigerians to redirect their frustration away from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Tinubu, insisting that citizens should hold their state governors and local leaders more accountable.
In a recent outburst on social media, Tacha pointed out that while Lagos is constantly under the microscope of public criticism, several other states across Nigeria suffer poor governance, lack of infrastructure, and widespread mismanagement with little scrutiny from their residents.
She argued that citizens often focus their blame on Lagos and Tinubu because of their visibility, while ignoring the incompetence of governors who directly control resources within their states. “Your governors are the ones receiving billions in allocations every month, yet you don’t hold them responsible,” she said.
The outspoken media figure emphasized that Nigeria’s systemic issues require every level of leadership to be accountable, not just federal leaders. She urged Nigerians to spread their activism and demand transparency and good governance in all states.
Her comments have sparked heated reactions, with some agreeing that local governance is often overlooked, while others maintain that Tinubu, as President, deserves the lion’s share of criticism.
