The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the operations of the Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, amid a brewing industrial dispute involving workers.
The refinery, which has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd), recently witnessed tension as workers raised concerns over welfare and working conditions. Their grievances have drawn the attention of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), which has threatened industrial action if issues are not addressed.
Speaking on Tuesday October 7th, government officials stressed that the refinery is a strategic national asset critical to Nigeria’s energy security and economic stability. They noted that any disruption in operations could undermine fuel supply and revenue generation.
The Federal Government has since initiated dialogue with PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery management to resolve the dispute amicably, urging all parties to prioritize national interest
