The Federal Government is set to host the first-ever Renewed Hope Charity Ball, a high-profile fundraising event aimed at generating N150 billion to support refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) across Nigeria.
The event, a collaboration between the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and Imaginative Ceilings Limited, is expected to attract prominent business leaders, government officials, and celebrities to mobilize resources for humanitarian aid.
Scheduled between August and September, the charity ball will be chaired by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with the First Ladies of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory serving as co-chairpersons.
Festus Ofume, CEO of Imaginative Ceilings Limited, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond just raising funds. “This charity ball is not just a social event but a movement to mobilize resources for healthcare, education, skills development, and economic empowerment programs for displaced persons,” he said.
Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, Hon. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the lives of displaced persons. “It is not just about raising money but ensuring that these funds translate into tangible, life-changing programs to aid their resettlement, rehabilitation, and reintegration,” he stated.
With Nigeria facing a worsening displacement crisis due to conflicts, natural disasters, and economic hardship, the Renewed Hope Charity Ball is seen as a crucial step toward providing sustainable assistance to millions of affected individuals. If successful, it could set a new standard for philanthropic fundraising in Nigeria, merging entertainment, networking, and grassroots engagement to drive social change.
