With Nigeria’s housing deficit estimated in the millions, the Federal Government is teaming up with the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) to address affordability through innovation, land reforms, and local content promotion. Ahead of the 19th edition of AIHS set for July 27 to August 1, 2025, in Abuja, organisers are focusing on the theme “Reimagining Housing Through Innovation, Collaboration, and Policy.”
Festus Adebayo, AIHS Coordinator and founder of Housing TV Africa, said the collaboration with the newly elevated Ministry of Housing and Urban Development signals a new era. “We are tackling core challenges — access to land, expensive building materials, and lack of affordable finance — with actionable, localised solutions,” he said.
With participation from over 21 countries, 400+ exhibitors, and thousands of stakeholders, AIHS 2025 will focus on reducing Nigeria’s dependency on imported construction materials by incentivising local manufacturing. “We must shift the conversation to local alternatives — cheaper, available, and job-generating,” Adebayo noted.
Critical sessions will explore mortgage accessibility, green financing, land titling bottlenecks, and real estate innovation led by young CEOs and women professionals. Industry giants like Dangote Cement, Lafarge, and Federal Mortgage Bank are corporate supporters, while international delegations from Dubai, China, the UK, and Italy are expected.
