Eleven days after stepping down as APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been sworn in as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Board.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, inaugurated the board in Abuja, charging members to approach their duties with transparency, professionalism, and service orientation. He emphasized that the success of FAAN should not be measured by financial metrics alone, but by its impact on ordinary Nigerians and its role in projecting Nigeria’s international image.
“You are not merely figureheads,” Keyamo declared. “You are the architects of our aviation future.”
Ganduje, in his response, promised full cooperation with the ministry and FAAN management. He stressed the board’s commitment to studying and respecting the FAAN Act to avoid overstepping its mandate while still delivering on its oversight responsibilities.
FAAN Managing Director, Ms. Olubunmi Kuku, pledged to work collaboratively with the new board to enhance operational efficiency and meet global aviation standards.
Other board members inaugurated include Ms. Dorothy Duruaka, Ahmed Ibrahim Suleiman, Engr. Nasiru Muazu, Omozojie Okoboh, Engr. T.P. Vembe, and Bridget Gold as secretary. The new board is expected to help reposition the aviation sector as a key driver of economic growth and connectivity.
