Dr. Doyin Okupe, a renowned Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential aide, has passed away at the age of 72. He died while undergoing surgery in a Lagos hospital.
According to family sources, Okupe had traveled from Abuja to Lagos less than a week ago for a medical procedure but did not survive the operation. A close associate revealed that he had battled multiple health conditions for over 40 years, including prostate cancer and weight-related issues.
Okupe, who was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago, also developed sarcoma in his right shoulder. In 2023, he sought treatment in Israel, but his condition did not improve as expected.
