FUBARA MEETS TINUBU, PREACHES UNITY IN RIVERS

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged commitment to peace and reconciliation after meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, came days after Tinubu lifted the state of emergency in Rivers and restored democratic rule.

Speaking after the closed-door session, Governor Fubara said the conversation with President Tinubu centered on ways to stabilize Rivers politics and ensure governance is not distracted by endless crises. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusivity and working with all stakeholders, regardless of party affiliations.

The governor stressed that his focus remains on delivering projects, supporting local communities, and restoring citizens’ trust in government. He also appealed to political actors in the state to set aside personal differences and work for the collective good of Rivers people.

Observers say the meeting signals a new phase in the fragile reconciliation process between Rivers’ feuding factions. However, analysts caution that the governor faces an uphill task in bridging entrenched divisions within both the ruling PDP and opposition blocs in the state.
