In a poignant show of compassion, Governor Umo Eno has inaugurated the sixth Compassionate Home under his ARISE Agenda for vulnerable citizens, gifting a newly-built, solar-powered and fully furnished house to Madam Eno Luke of Uruk Ata Ikot Otok in Etim Ekpo LGA. The 83-year-old widow, who lost all nine of her children, was also given a ₦500,000 business grant.
The Governor, represented by former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof. Imoh Moffat, also honoured a young humanitarian, Mr. Nsidibe Udofia, who had supported the widow for three years, with ₦1 million cash. The local church, Qua Iboe, which began initial efforts to help the widow, was praised for its initiative.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, noted that the new home includes solar-powered bedrooms, a borehole, and a kitchenette, and was rebuilt from scratch according to the Governor’s directive. The Chairman of Etim Ekpo LGA and APC chapter chairman also made additional donations, while Madam Luke offered prayers of gratitude for her miraculous intervention.
