Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged citizens to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as essential tools for strengthening unity and accelerating development in the state. The governor delivered the message during the Sunday service on December 7th, marking the 24th Eket Field Annual Convention of The Apostolic Church.
He stressed that human imperfection makes tolerance necessary and noted that progress is best achieved when communities prioritise reconciliation over resentment. Governor Eno highlighted forgiveness as a vital life principle that has contributed significantly to the state’s stability, advising residents to learn from the past while avoiding repeated mistakes.
The governor further encouraged citizens to avoid cycles of retaliation, warning that communities guided by vengeance ultimately undermine their collective wellbeing. He called on those in positions of influence to use their platforms to unite, not divide, and to foster an environment where mutual respect and cooperation can thrive.
Governor Eno commended The Apostolic Church for its orderly leadership transition and lauded its continued prayers and support for his administration since the 2023 election cycle. The service featured a sermon on “The Gospel of the Kingdom,” delivered by the National Vice President of the Church, Pastor Edikan Johnson, who urged believers to uphold righteousness and embrace spiritual renewal.
The governor was accompanied by members of the State Executive Council, senior advisers, political stakeholders, captains of industry, and other government officials.
