Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on citizens and residents to embrace unity, forgiveness, and collective effort in order to consolidate peace and sustain the progress of the State.
Speaking during a special inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the 38th anniversary of the state’s creation at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, the Governor emphasized that only through unity could Akwa Ibom continue to thrive.
“Let us rise above ethnicity, parochialism, hatred, and division. We have only one united Akwa Ibom, and such shall I hand over at the end of my tenure,” Eno said. He underscored the importance of patriotism, urging citizens to prioritize the state’s interest above personal or partisan considerations.
The Governor also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders and pledged to continue collaborating with them to sustain development. He further reminded citizens to take advantage of the ongoing INEC voters’ registration exercise, stressing its importance to the democratic process.
In attendance were religious leaders, past governors, National Assembly members, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and captains of industry, all of whom commended the Governor’s leadership and prayed for continued peace and prosperity in the state.
