Governor Eno has clarified that the ban on masquerade activities in Akwa Ibom State applies only to streets and highways, allowing traditional worship practices to continue in village squares or confined areas. He emphasized that the restriction aims to protect public safety and the freedom of movement, while respecting the right to cultural and religious expression.
The announcement was made during the funeral of Mrs. Rose Linus Okon at the State Cenotaph in Uyo. Governor Eno condoled with the family, praising the deceased’s life of devotion and service, and commended Pastor Joe Linus for his humility and dedication to spiritual service. Pastor Linus was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, effective January 2026, to work alongside other religious aides in providing spiritual guidance to the state.
The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, members of the State Executive Council, political leaders, captains of industry, and government officials.
