Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on residents to rise above political and ethnic differences and sustain unity for a prosperous and peaceful state. The charge was given during the State Unity Concert held at the International Worship Centre in Uyo, an event organized to herald the Christmas season and reinforce the bonds among citizens as children of God.
Governor Eno emphasized that Akwa Ibom was founded on love and unity, noting that the state’s forebears came together to establish a legacy for future generations, beyond ethnic or political affiliations. The concert highlighted the inseparable link between faith, communal harmony, and the state’s progress.
Moved by the performance of physically-challenged gospel artist Chris Vic, Governor Eno pledged significant support to nurture his talent. The Governor directed the Commissioner for Lands to allocate a plot of land in Uyo for the construction of a four-bedroom residence incorporating a fully equipped music studio valued at N100 million. Additionally, he pledged a monthly allowance of N1 million for the artist throughout his tenure as Governor.
The concert featured performances by gospel artistes including Mercy Chinwo, Moses Bliss, Progress Effiong, Awesome Group, Victor Thompson, Bobby Friga, Chris Vic, Reho Sax, David G, Prosper Ochimana, BeeJay Sax, and Aity Dennis. Archbishop Emmah Isong, who preached at the event on the theme “In Him We Live, Move and Have Our Being,” encouraged worshippers to uphold unity, love, and respect for leadership as a pathway to peace and development. Governor Eno was presented with a “Unity Award” in recognition of his efforts to foster harmony in the state.
