Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced plans to make tourism a key revenue driver for the state, pledging major investments in the sector.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, Governor Otti said Abia is endowed with cultural heritage sites, festivals, and natural attractions that, if properly harnessed, could generate employment, attract global visitors, and diversify the state’s economy. He disclosed that his administration will work closely with investors, traditional institutions, and local communities to reposition Abia as a tourism hub.
The governor emphasized that security, infrastructure, and promotion of cultural assets will be central to the plan. He urged citizens to support the vision, noting that tourism could complement ongoing industrial and agricultural reforms to create a more robust economy for the state.
