Governor Abdullahi Sule Denies Endorsing Successor for 2027

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has dismissed claims that he is backing a particular candidate to replace him in the 2027 general election.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Lafia on Wednesday, 26th March, the governor described the speculation as false and unfounded.

“We want to make it categorically clear that Governor Abdullahi Sule has no anointed candidate to succeed him in 2027. Any appointee supporting such a claim is displaying insubordination, and the governor will not condone such acts,” Ahemba stated.

He urged the public to disregard any politician claiming to be the government’s chosen candidate for the upcoming governorship election, emphasizing that the people of Nasarawa will decide their next leader at the appropriate time.

The governor’s aide also warned political appointees with ambitions for 2027 against heating up the polity, stating that the administration remains focused on delivering democratic dividends in its remaining two years.

“The ongoing infrastructural projects across the state, including the Lafia Flyover and Underpass, the Akwanga Flyover, and the proposed Keffi Flyover, demonstrate the governor’s commitment to development,” he added.

Governor Sule called for continued public support for his administration’s efforts to improve the standard of living in the state.
