Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the progress of work at the Ibom Model Farm in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
During an unscheduled visit, the Governor expressed happiness with the infrastructure development, noting that essential components like road networks and irrigation systems have been put in place.
“To develop a farm of this magnitude is not a day’s work,” he said. “You can see that the crops are coming up, the road network is done, and the drainages have been put in place.”
He added that the next phase of the project would involve constructing residential apartments for farm managers and other workers.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Offiong Offor, assured the Governor that the project would be completed on schedule, emphasizing that the farm is prepared for increased cultivation during the rainy season.
“We have already irrigated the farm, so we are going to use that irrigation to support the crops we are growing here,” she said.
