Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the standard of training and facilities at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) in Ikot Ada Edem, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
During an unannounced visit, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made, praising the efforts of the Rector, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, and her team. He later attended the maiden graduation ceremony, where 240 trainees received certificates after undergoing specialized training in fields such as fashion, catering, agribusiness, ICT, metal technology, and wood technology.
Governor Eno acknowledged former Governor Udom Emmanuel for conceptualizing the center and highlighted the state’s sponsorship of the first batch of trainees, who also received stipends.
“This center stands as a world-class institution dedicated to providing cutting-edge, needs-driven technical skills training, leadership, and entrepreneurial development,” he stated.
He urged well-meaning individuals to sponsor more trainees in future programs and announced plans to upgrade DASAC into a degree-awarding technical institution. The Governor emphasized integrating the skills learned at DASAC into the state’s broader economic development initiatives, such as the Ibom Model Farm and hospitality projects like Ibom Towers in Lagos.
