GOVERNOR ZULUM ACCUSES POLITICIANS, MILITARY PERSONNEL OF SABOTAGE IN BOKO HARAM INSURGENCY

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has made a startling accusation, revealing that some Nigerian politicians and members of the armed forces are serving as informants and collaborators for Boko Haram insurgents. In an interview with News Central TV, Zulum said the state was intensifying intelligence gathering to expose and deal decisively with saboteurs. While acknowledging the complex task of fully rehabilitating former insurgents, he asserted that over 99 percent of those who surrendered were now contributing positively to peace. Zulum also criticised the poor equipping of the military and called for a forest guard initiative to improve territorial monitoring. Stressing the need for both military and non-military (kinetic and non-kinetic) approaches, Zulum urged President Bola Tinubu to avoid politicising security and to rely on expert military advice. He praised the Nigerian armed forces for their role in peace-building efforts but insisted that accountability and professional conduct must be reinforced across all sectors to bring the insurgency to a conclusive end.
