Nigeria’s celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has officially received a giant custom-made cooking pot that will be used in the upcoming World Jollof Rice Cook-Off.
The massive pot, delivered to Lagos this week, immediately generated buzz as videos of its arrival spread across social media. The cook-off, which will feature top chefs from across Africa, is expected to set a new record for the largest serving of jollof rice ever prepared.
Baci, who gained international fame after her record-breaking cook-a-thon in 2023, expressed excitement about representing Nigeria once again. “This is more than food. Jollof rice is culture, identity, and pride. I’m honored to showcase Nigeria on the global stage again,” she said.
Event organizers said the competition will not only test cooking skills but also highlight cultural diversity across Africa. Culinary experts say the event could further cement Nigeria’s place in the ongoing “Jollof rivalry” with Ghana and other West African countries.
