INTERNAL REBELLION BREWS IN APC AS ONOKPASA VOWS TO OUST TINUBU FROM WITHIN
Discontent is stirring within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as Jesutega Onokpasa, a founding member and longtime loyalist of President Bola Tinubu, publicly criticized the president’s economic policies and declared his intent to oppose Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. Speaking in a candid interview on Arise News, Onokpasa voiced deep frustration over the worsening conditions in the country, citing pervasive hunger, poverty, and economic hardship.
Onokpasa, who passionately campaigned for Tinubu during the 2023 election cycle, described a growing sense of betrayal among party faithfuls who feel the administration has abandoned its promises. “I’m not leaving the APC for anyone, including President Tinubu,” he emphasized, but stressed that staying in the party would not mean endorsing a second term.
He warned that the greatest threat to Tinubu’s political future would not come from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or Labour Party (LP), but from within his own political family. “We, the APC members who helped put him in office, will be the ones to remove him,” Onokpasa said, underscoring the magnitude of internal disillusionment threatening to fracture the party ahead of 2027.
