A 38-year-old woman, Krystena Murray, has filed a lawsuit against Coastal Fertility Specialists after discovering that she had carried and given birth to another family’s baby due to an IVF mix-up.
Murray, who resides in Savannah, Georgia, had opted for in vitro fertilization (IVF) with a sperm donor in hopes of conceiving her child. However, when she gave birth in December 2023, she immediately noticed that something was wrong—the baby was of African American descent, while the sperm donor she had chosen was white with blue eyes.
In February 2024, after legal consultation, the clinic was notified, and DNA tests confirmed the shocking error. The biological parents of the baby then filed for custody, leading to an emotional court battle. Eventually, Murray was forced to surrender the child five months after birth, a traumatic experience she says has left her devastated.
She is now suing the clinic for negligence and is seeking damages in a jury trial.
