JAMB TO PROBE UTME COMPLAINTS IN SELECT STATES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an accelerated internal review of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results management systems following a surge in complaints from candidates across multiple states. JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin acknowledged that while the 2025 exams were largely successful, “unusual” complaints have emerged about scoring inconsistencies, delayed results, and missing subjects, especially from areas in the South-West and North-Central zones.
In response, JAMB has convened a team of technical experts, including psychometricians, university vice chancellors, and independent consultants, to audit all stages of the exam process — from biometric verification and test administration to result computation. The board stressed that candidates who missed their exams due to verified technical issues will be automatically rescheduled without any additional payment.
JAMB reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on malpractice and urged parents and schools not to pressure students into unethical behavior. The board stated that it will publish its full review report in June and implement any necessary system upgrades or changes. Despite the concerns, JAMB insists the integrity of the exam remains intact and warns that “viral misinformation” about widespread score manipulation is baseless and potentially criminal.
