KWARA STATE INTRODUCES COLOUR CODES FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES TO BOOST SECURITY

The Kwara State government has rolled out a new policy to colour-code commercial vehicles operating in the state, in a move aimed at improving public safety and simplifying vehicle identification. Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Aliyu Korasabi, announced the measure during a meeting with transport unions and security officials in Ilorin.
From now on, intra-state vehicles such as tricycles and shuttle buses will sport yellow with green stripes, while inter-state vehicles must use green with white stripes. The policy takes effect immediately, with a grace period until September 30, 2025, after which defaulters will face sanctions.
Transport union leaders applauded the initiative, describing it as a security-enhancing measure that will also help distinguish Kwara vehicles from those in other states. The administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was praised for taking bold steps toward protecting lives and improving transportation infrastructure.
