Following the killing of 16 hunters from Kano in Edo State, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dispatched a high-level delegation to Edo to engage with the state government and the Hausa community.
In a state-wide broadcast, Governor Yusuf condemned the killings, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable. He assured Kano residents that his administration was closely monitoring the case and would push for justice.
“The delegation will work to ensure that justice is served and that those responsible are held accountable,” Yusuf stated.
He also confirmed that Governor Okpebholo had assured him that most of the suspects had already been arrested and that investigations were progressing. Additionally, Yusuf promised full compensation for the victims’ families.
He urged Kano residents to remain law-abiding and refrain from retaliatory actions, emphasizing Kano’s long-standing reputation as a peaceful state.
“This is a tragic and sad moment, but we must not let anger lead us to actions that would further divide us as a nation,” he cautioned.
