The crisis at the Lagos State House of Assembly has taken a new twist as lawmakers reportedly plan to consult President Bola Tinubu regarding the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker.
At a marathon meeting held by the influential Governance Advisory Council (GAC) on Monday, some stakeholders allegedly described the impeachment as unconstitutional and detrimental to party unity.

Insiders revealed that the council is considering reinstating Obasa temporarily and offering him a graceful exit through voluntary resignation. However, lawmakers remain divided, with many still supporting Mojisola Meranda, who was recently elected as Speaker.
Muraina Taiwo, a senior member of the GAC, highlighted the need for lawmakers to align with the party’s decision, saying, “Obasa should be allowed to return and decide for himself whether to resign or stay.”
Tajudeen Olusi, GAC Chairman, stated that an official decision would be communicated in due time, urging the public to await formal announcements.
